The Linguistics Division of the University of North Texas Department
of English is accepting applications for a tenure track position at
the Assistant Professor level, pending bugetary approval.
Responsibilities will include teaching basic MA level courses in
Linguistics and ESL.  Applicants must demonstrate a long term
committment to research and publication in fields of English as a
Second Language (e.g.  classroom oriented research) and linguistics.
The PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics, or ESL is required.

The Department of English at Arizona State University is looking for a
specialist in second language acquisition theory.  The rank is
assistant professor, tenure track.  Starting date is August 16, 1997.
Earned doctorate in applied linguistics (TESL), linguistics, or
related field by date of appointment required.  Expertise in syntax,
language assessment, or computer-aided analysis/instruction preferred.
Post-secondary teaching experience and publications desired.  Initial
two courses/ semester; competitive salary; teaching responsibilities
in TESL and linguistics at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
The successful applicant will be actively involved in an established

The University of Oklahoma, Department of Anthropology, is seeking to
hire a linguist for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 1997.  Salary is
commensurate with experience.  Ph.D in anthropological linguistics is
preferred and specialization in languages of the Americas is required.
