Subject:  JOB IN ESL AT PURDUE
 
The Department of English at Purdue University is seeking a candidate for a
tenure track position in the following area, beginning August 1997.
 
Assistant Professor in English as a Second Language (no more than three years
experience in a tenure-track position).  Ph.D. in ESL or related field to teach
and develop graduate and undergraduate courses.  Specialization in one or
more of the following required:  1. assessment, 2. research and design,
and 3. second language acquisition.  Experience with ITA or other special
programs desirable.  Possible future administrative and teacher preparation
responsibilities.  Teaching experience and publication desirable.
 
Doctoral degree must be completed by August, 1997.  Salaries competitive.
Teaching load is four courses per academic year.  Send letter of application,
vita, dossier (including letters of recommendation addressing candidate's
undergraduate teaching and research) and writing sample(s).  Send materials

     The Faculty of Integrated Human Studies, Kyoto University solicits
applications for a position of an LL (Language Laboratory) assistant in
language teaching / learning. The appointee will be expected to assist
those teachers who have multimeda classes (CALL classes) at a language
laboratory and contribute to the construction of teaching material as well
as the general management of the LL facilities.
   Applicants must have :
*prior experience in running language laboratory programs
*a perfect (or near perfect) command of spoken and written Japanese
*MA or a higher degree in language teaching / learning or a related area
*preferably less than thirty-five years old at the time of appointment
