Hello All.  I would like to put together a mailing list of all of us
who work in the area of discourse studies on CMC (computer-mediated
communication).  If you are interested, please send me your name,
e-mail address and a brief statement of your particular research
interests in CMC.  Many graduate students from all over the world have
contacted me about their interesting work in CMC and I'd like to offer
them a list of research contacts which might help them in their
graduate research.  Please include a list of your publications on CMC
as well.  I will post a summary.

I would like to know if there is anybody on this mail list who has
been doing arctic Fieldworks or researches. I'm now in Igloolik and I
spent almost two years in Iqaluit before. My research interests are
about inuktitut language, and ethnicity. I have also been working on a
project about the francophone community in Iqaluit. If anyone has an
interest or experience about North, we should keep in touch... My

Dear Linguists:
 
I have been following the discussions on this list for several months.
This is one of the most interesting and intelligent use of the
internet that I have found!
 
I am a hobby linguist, or better, a non-linguist (accountant)
fascinated by language and its study.  I would appreciate it if anyone
could recommend me a readable introductory linguistics text written in
and "based on" the German language.  As a secondary focus, I am also
interested in the cultural aspects of Germans and how they are
manifested in the language and its uses - has this topic been
published anywhere?
