                Two Open Rank Tenure Track Positions
                          available at the
                  Graduate Institute of Linguistics
                   National Chung Cheng University

The Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Chung Cheng University
in Chia-yi, Taiwan, has two open rank tenure track positions available
starting August 1, 1997.  One position is in syntax/semantics; the other
is in discourse/sociolinguistics.  Candidates must have solid research
records in Chinese linguistics.  A background in corpus/computational
linguistics is a plus.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by June 1997
in order to be appointed to either of the above positions by August 1,
1997.  Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.  The
annual salary is about NT$936,000 for a first year assistant professor,
NT$972,000 for a first year associate professor, and NT$1,144,000 for a
first year full professor.  (US$1.00 is approximately NT$27.00; previous
teaching and research experience can be counted toward the salary
scale in all of the three ranks.)  Please send a letter of application,
along with a C.V., a statement of research goals, three letters of
recommendation, and copies of major publications to:
