Has anyone out there written a parser using the CLIPS language? If
so, I'd be interested to hear your impressions of using this
programming language for linguistic purposes and what sorts of
grammars you encoded.

Subject: Qs: Hebrew

Dear Linguists,

A friend of mine wants to know how "Spain" or "The Spains" was called
in Hebrew by jews in the Iberian Peninsula up to 1500 or so. In this
sense, he also wants to know (a) if the expression Sefar Sefarad, or
something like that, makes any sense (he thinks it means "the book of
the Spains"), and (b) what its phonetic transcription is, and (c) how
is it spelled (description of Hebrew characters or a short file in
WordPerfect with Hebrew fonts, which I can use, would be great).

Please reply directly to me. Thank you very much in advance,

Dear linguist fellows,
I'm posting this for a friend who is seeking the word for 'emerald' in
Konkani (language spoken in Goa, India) and in Malayalam. If you
could help him, please send your message directly to me. Thank you
very much.
