             SECOND  CELTIC  LINGUISTICS   CONFERENCE

                         Call for Papers


The 2nd Celtic Linguistics Conference will be held at University
College Dublin on 20-21 June, 1997.  Abstracts are invited for 45
minute talks (30+15) on all aspects of theoretically-oriented research
on the Celtic languages.  Please submit 4 copies of a 1-page abstract
(3 anonymous and one camera-ready copy with name, affiliation etc.) to
the address below.  Abstracts must be received by March 10, 1997.

                    Invited speakers include:

               David Adger (University of York)
               Bob Borsley (University of Wales, Bangor)
               Jim McCloskey (University of California, Santa Cruz)
               Gillian Ramchand (Oxford University)
               Ian Roberts (University of Stuttgart)
               Alain Rouveret (Universite Paris 7)

The conference will be held on the Belfield campus (approximately 5km
from the city centre).  Accomodation on campus will be available.

SOUTHEAST REGIONAL TESOL CONFERENCE

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

You are invited to submit proposals for the Southeast Regional TESOL
conference.  You are encouraged to submit proposals on practice,
theory, and research as they pertain to teaching and administration at
all levels from elementary through higher and adult education.
Presentations on materials and curriculum, professional development,
teacher training, staff development, and cultural concerns, as well as
other areas of professional interest, are also welcomed.

Please share your ideas and expertise with colleagues from the ten
states and nine TESOL affiliates of the Southeast Region.  Shortly
after the June 30 proposal deadline, you will receive pre-
registration materials for the conference at the Orient Express

in the heart of historic Charleston.

1997 Carolina TESOL Spring Conference

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

You are invited to submit proposals for the Carolina  TESOL Spring
Conference.

The theme is Linguistics in the ESL Classroom.  This conference will be
held in conjunction with the Southeastern Conference on Linguistics
Spring Conference (SECOL).  Registration qualifies participants to
attend sessions from SECOL as well as Carolina TESOL. Lodging has been
arranged at the Hilton for a flat rate of $79 per room for up to two
occupants. The deadline for hotel reservations is March 30.  For hotel

Please inform the registrar that you are with Carolina TESOL.

The plenary on April 5, Dialects and TESOL: Obligation and Opportunity,
will be given by Dr. Walt Wolfram
