*** Used, rare, and out-of-print linguistic books ***

For the benefit of the linguist bibliophile, I pass on the
following information:

Turtle Island Booksellers, located in Berkeley, San Francisco
Bay Area's premier bookstore for used, rare, and out-of-print
books in linguistics, has just issued their latest catalogue,
*Catalogue 29: Linguistics*, offering 760 scholarly, mostly
out-of-print, titles. Among the books are a substantial number
from the library of the late Prof. Herbert Penzl of the
University of California, Berkeley. There are unusual books in
all fields of linguistics, including Germanic philology and
dialectology, Romance and English linguistics, many Russian and
other lexicographic works, important Festschriften, and rare
early editions of Minsheu, Bouget, DuCange, Facciolati, Vossius,
and others. You can order a free copy by contacting Turtle
Island Booksellers: Tel: (510) 540 5422 or FAX: (510) 540 5461.

Readers may like to look at a new web page describing research and
postgraduate work in English Language and Linguistics at the
University of Manchester:

    http://www.art.man.ac.uk/english/pgdegree/manenglg.htm

As part of the reorganisation of our departmental website, two other
pages relevant to linguists have migrated down the directory tree.

A listing of forthcoming articles in the new C.U.P. journal _English
Language and Linguistics_ (first issue May 1997) can now be found at:

    http://www.art.man.ac.uk/english/projects/ell.htm

And the page for the 10th International Conference on English
Historical Linguistics (Manchester, 21-26 August 1998) is now at

    http://www.art.man.ac.uk/english/projects/10icehl.htm

Apologies to anyone who gets multiple copies of this note.
David Denison
