UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FARMINGTON, FARMINGTON, MAINE

Assistant Professor of Linguistics (Instructor if ABD), to begin
September, 1998.  Tenure track.  Must be able to teach a range of
undergraduate linguistics courses to liberal arts and education
majors.  Strength in psycholinguistics and/or child language
development required; knowledge of philosophy of language, semiotics,
bilingualism or socio-linguistics issues, eg. dialect variation,
helpful.  College teaching experience and promise of scholarship
required.  PhD required for tenure.  4 courses/semester.

Consideration begins Nov. 15.

Position available:  ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN TESOL

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in TESOL or Applied Linguistics,
experience teaching graduate courses in TESOL, and research in either
TESOL or Applied Linguistics.

Responsibilities: Teach Methods in TESOL, Testing, Pedagogical Grammar
and ESL Practicum, and direct M.A.-level research in Applied
Linguistics.

	Starting date:  September 1, 1998
	Salary:  Competetive within rank
