area of specialization will not recognize them. Thank you for
your cooperation.

WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

The GP workshop in Novi Sad now has been scheduled for the weekend of
6th December 1997. It will be 3 days in length, starting either on 5th
or 6th December. The provisional timetable allows for up o 24
presentations in 45-minute slots (i.e. 30 minutes' presentation and
the rest discussion) plus two "free" workshops (on the first two
evenings

The plans for the "free" workshops are still fairly flexible.
Suggestions so far are 1) brainstorming on "How do we replace
branching constituents?" and 2) general discussion of issues raised
dur the presentations. We are open to further suggestions, so please
feel free to make some!

Please submit (provisional) titles and name(s) of author(s) for
30-minute presentations as soon as possible. Also, please let us know
if you want to attend without giving a presentation. The list of
participants will be available via the Vienna Government Phonology
page, on

http://www.univie.ac.at/linguistics/gp/

Note: You may need a visa for Yugoslavia. Please check with your
local consulate and tell us in good time if you need an official
invitation.

The local organizers have asked us in Vienna to act as go-betweens in
organizing the meeting because their email is unreliable. Therefore
please address all correspondence to:
