MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE, South Hadley, MA 01075. The Asian Studies Program
invites applications for a tenure-track, entry-level position in Chinese
language, beginning in September 1998. The incumbent will have primary
responsibility for teaching first- and second-year Chinese (Mandarin), so
applicants should demonstrate ability, training, and experience in
language pedagogy and second-language acquisition, though that need not be
the primary research field. In addition, the incumbent will teach one
other one-semester course. Send letter of application, vita, and three
letters of recommendation to Jonathan Lipman, Chair, Asian Studies
Program, by December 1, 1997. Mount Holyoke College is committed to
fostering cultural diversity and multicultural awareness in its faculty,
staff, and students, and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity
employer. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.

Jonathan N. Lipman
Professor and Chair of Asian Studies
Mount Holyoke College
