Subject: Word Origins CD

Dear linguists, I am in search of a CD for a Mac that twould easily
yield information as to the origin and evolution of words. Can anyone
help my 86 year old father, who has difficulties reading form written
text in books, but can read from a computer screen.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Cheers, Hartmut Spetzler

NB! I would also be interested in a CD, but for a PC and I am not reading
impaired, just lazy.

Does anybody know when the expression "corpus linguistics" has been
used for the first time to indicate a new field in language studies,
based on the use of machine-readable corpora?

Thank you

I am a student at Howard University pursuring a degree in
Educational Psychology. Presently I am doing research on African
American Vernacular English "Ebonics" (a term that I really like by
the way). I am becoming more and more intriqued by it as I explore
it. If there is any information that you feel may be helpful to my
pursuits and if you have the time please contact me.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,

We are running a project entitled "Informed Shared Decision Making",
focussing on doctor to patient interactions. We would much appreciate
any citations relating to doctor/patient talk. Please respond
directly to me, rather than to the List. Our sincere thanks for your
help.
