Qualifications :  BA Degree,
Contract Terms :  One (1) year contract basis (renewal is optional).

TUNGHAI UNIVERSITY, Department of (Western) Foreign Languages and
Literature.

We invite applications for

1) Assistant Professor in Composition/Writing, to teach writing and oral
skills courses in English Majors Program in EFL environment.  Ph.D. in
Rhetoric, English, TEFL (with emphasis in teaching writing), or other
relevant field required; expertise in teaching literature, humanities, or
cultural studies desirable. Closing date:  March 31, 1998.

2) Lecturer/Assistant Professor in TEFL, Foreign Language Education,
or Applied Linguistics to teach integrated skills EFL classes and
participate in curriculum/program development; background in
educational technology and language testing desirable.  M.A.  or
Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment.  Closing date: April 30, 1998.

              Natural Language Engineer/Project Manager

Cymfony, a Buffalo, NY based company specializing in Information
Technology is seeking an experienced computer scientist to work on a
software development project. The project involves state of the art
Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology for information retrieval
and information extraction applications.   The candidate must have
experience working on large-scale NLP systems.  The candidate must be
familiar with the use of on-line lexical resources, parsers, POS
taggers, etc.  Experience with both statistical and symbolic NLP
techniques is desired.

We are looking for an individual with extensive programming and software
engineering background. Candidate should have a solid computer science
background with experience in C, C++ programming, and applications
programming for the Windows 95/NT platform, and UNIX platform.

This will be a "hands-on" position requiring code development.   The
primary responsibility will be the design and implementation of a
deployable prototype system for information extraction.  This system
will integrate technology developed thus far by our team of research
scientists.  Specific duties will include software design and
implementation, as well as supervising other programmers and interacting
with researchers.

Some project management duties will also be required.  Candidate must
have good verbal and written skills as well as experience in team work.

Cymfony is located in suburban Buffalo, NY, close to the State
University of New York campus. This is a full-time, permanent position
