GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP IN LANGUAGE LEARNING TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Linguistics, University of Pittsburgh, offers a one
year assistantship in language learning technology. The position
offers full tuition remission, a stipend for living expenses, and full
medical benefits. The position will constitute the financial aid
package for a candidate for the MA or PhD degree in Linguistics or
Applied Linguistics. Area of concentration is open. The position is
renewable contingent on satisfactory progress towards the degree.
The successful candidate will:
- have an interest/background in linguistics.
- have familiarity with HTML, the Web, and Unix.
- have familiarity with MAC and/or IBM hardware and software.
Familiarity with Language Laboratories, uncommonly taught languages,
and an interest in CALL will be an advantage.
Pittsburgh is an major research center for linguistics,
psycholinguistics, applied linguistics and language
technology. Carnegie Mellon University is close by and
cross-registration with CMU courses is possible as part of the degree.
