MRM,  a foreign language research firm in the Washington, D.C. area, is
seeking to employ an Arabic dialectician to produce language learning
materials in various Arabic dialects, excluding Egyptian and Levantine.
The ideal candidate will have native-speaking ability in MSA and at lease
one dialect and demonstrated ability to conduct and/or direct language
research in this field.  The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent

There are immediate job openings at NEC Research Institute in
Princeton NJ. Enclosed below is the formal job announcement. We
currently have a small group or circle of people - including myself,
David Lebeaux, and Piroska Csuri - who are working on linguistics
and computation.  Since we're seeking to expand and strengthen this

                   NEC Research Institute

The NEC Research Institute (NECI) Computer Science Division has
immediate openings for outstanding researchers.  Candidates are
expected to establish a basic research program of international
stature.  NECI currently has programs in theory; machine learning;
computer vision; computational linguistics; operating systems,
programming languages, and compilers; and parallel architecture.
Candidates with strong records in one of these areas will be
preferred.  Ph.D.s are generally required.

The NEC Research Institute, founded nine years ago, has as its mission
basic research in Computer Science and Physics underlying future
computer and communication technologies.  The Institute offers unusual
opportunities in that:

   1. Members are free to decide on their own basic research
      directions and projects;

   2. Positions include budgets for research, support staff, travel,
      and equipment;  and
