Subject:  Temporary Lectureship

Applications are invited for the position of a temporary lectureship in
general linguistics.  The position is in the Department of Western
Languages and Literatures at Bogazici University, Istanbul, for the fall
semester of the academic year of 1998-1999 (October  1, 1998  -  January
15, 1999).

The applicant will be expected to teach introduction to linguistics and one
of the following:

(i)  phonology
(ii) linguistic methodology

The language of instruction at B.U. is English.

The salary for candidates holding a Ph.D. in linguistics is roughly
150.000.000TL per month after tax is deducted (USD1=230.000TL currently).

The University will provide accommodation for the successful candidate.

Subject:  Visiting Phonology Position

Open Rank Visiting Position in Phonology

The Department of Linguistics at MIT invites applications at both the
senior and junior levels for a temporary visiting position in PHONOLOGY
during 1998-99.  The appointment will be for the year or for a semester,
depending on rank.  Responsibilities include teaching and co-teaching of
undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars. Ph.D. required by time
of appointment. Review of applications will begin April 1, 1998, and
continue until the position is filled.
