RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Researcher A (Fixed Term, 3 years)
11562 - 13101 UK. pounds per annum (pro rata) depending on age,
qualifications and experience.

The School of Languages and European Studies at the University of
Wolverhampton wishes to appoint a research assistant to work on anaphora
resolution project. The duties will focus on the development and
implementation of a robust, knowledge-poor pronoun resolution approach.

We are looking for researchers with proven experience in NLP and with
excellent programming skills. The successful candidate will have a first
degree in Computational Linguistics or Computer Science. Appointees may
register for a Ph.D. or an M.Phil. on a part-time basis.

The successful candidate is expected to start the job as soon as
possible but no later than 1 September 1998.

RESEARCH POSITION IN LINGUISTICS

at the University of Konstanz (Germany)
Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 471 "Variation and Evolution in the Lexicon"
project A-6 "Variation and Evolution in Lexical Morphology"

to start on September 1, 1998

The SFB 471 is an interdisciplinary research group, consisting of 14
projects, funded by the German National Science Foundation. For more

Candidates should
*       possess a Ph.D. in linguistics or an equivalent degree,
*       be familiar with Lexical Functional Grammar or willing to acquire
        such familiarity,
*       be native speakers or advanced learners of Italian or some other
        Romance language, and
*       be interested in the grammatical aspects of historical linguistics.

The job is temporary. Funding is presently secured through Dec. 31, 1999,
but is planned to continue for at least three more years.

The deadline for application is June 20, 1998. Candidates should send their
