ENGLISH FACULTY POSITION AVAILABLE October 9, 1998 Korea Maritime
University is inviting three qualified native speakers to teach
English conversation to begin in March, 1999. The status of this
position is a visiting full-time instructor. The University has its
campus on a beautiful small island adjacent to a big island called
Youngdo, located in Pusan, the largest port city of Korea. The whole
island is a university campus from which you can walk up to the land
in 10 minutes.  There are various convenient transportation links that

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants interested in applying for the position of English
conversation are required to:
 (1) be foreigners who were born in countries where English is spoken as
a native language.
 (2) either have a degree of Master or higher degree (Applied
Linguistics, English, or TESOL degree preferred)
plus one year teaching experience or have teaching experience of at
least three years at university and/or college levels if no Master
degree is held.

CONTRACT PERIOD The contract shall be effective for one year from
March 1, 1999 to February 28, 2000. It is renewable depending on the
teaching evaluation.

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITY All employees shall be required to teach about
16 hours a week. After 10 teaching hours, the overtime teaching
payment will be made. Employees are also responsible for teaching the
evening sessions of each semester and the special sessions of summer
and winter break, if given additionally.

SALARY AND BENEFITS The beginning salary will be 1,600,000 Korean won
a month. This amount does not include payment for overtime teaching
hours and evening/special session teaching hours. Housing and medical
insurance will be provided. Severance pay will be provided at the end
of the employment period.

By not later than November 20, 1998, applicants must submit:
(1) a letter of application
(2) a curriculum vitae
(3) a copy of passport showing date of birth and nationality
(4) a copy of diploma(s)/degree certificates
(5) a recent photograph of passport size
(6) a copy of all university and graduate school transcripts
(7) a letter of recommendation written by the latest employer or one's
academic advisor

EFL Jobs at Kyung Hee University


Kyung Hee University at Seoul, Korea is seeking several qualified EFL
teachers.  Qualifications: MA in Linguistics, Creative Writing, TESOL
or closely related field; experience in teaching English as a Second
Language and/or experience with TESOL education; BA in these fields
with MBA or MS degree also highly preferred. Interested applicants are

The successful candidates will be appointed for the term of one year
beginning March 1998, renewable on good standing for the term of two
years. Primary responsibilities include teaching 15 hours of English
composition and writing classes per week and coordinating EFL
activities in the institute. Monthly salary will be approximately
2,000,000 won.  Other benefits include 4 to 8 week paid vacations and
studio apartment (if available).
