A few years ago there was a flurry of publications on
the notion of tiers in morphology, but I haven't seen
anything recently. Can somebody please fill me in
on the state of the art. Thanks

Subject: category effects on language change

Hello,
Does anyone know of work that has been done concerning basic-level
lexical items in a given category and their effect on language change ?
I'm interested in the topic for a research paper, but have found only
mentions in textbooks and no concrete studies as of yet. I'm particularly
interested in a cross-linguistics study of how and when basic-level items
change. If there is sufficient response, I will post it,

Regards,
  Mike O'Connell
