Professor of Spanish as a Foreign Language

The University of the Americas-Puebla, Mexico, invites applications for the
post of full-time professor of Spanish as a foreign language in the Department
of Languages.  The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Spanish Applied
Linguistics, Foreign Language Teaching, or related area.  She or he will have
experience teaching Spanish (preferably also content courses for non-native
speakers).  The successful candidate may also be asked to teach courses for
the Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics, in the area of Spanish linguistics
and language teaching.

The appointment (initially for one year, but renewable) will begin in January
1999.  Benefits include car and possibility of subsidized on-campus housing.
Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Applications

The UDLA-P is a private university of 6000 students with a small graduate
school, accredited by the U.S. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
It is situated in the historic town of Cholula, 10 min. from the state capital
Puebla and 100 min. from Mexico City across the mountains.

The Department of Languages offers courses in English, French, Italian,
German, Japanese, Latin and Greek for undergraduates.  It also offers a
Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, as well as Spanish as a Foreign
Language for international students.
