    ROMANCE LINGUISTS

Linguists Needed for Portuguese to English & Italian to English Project

Responsibilities: Develop language rules to be used in machine
translation products for the two language pairs shown above.  Subjects
to be covered include (but are not limited to): morphological
analysis, morphological synthesis, syntactic analysis, homograph
resolution, word segmentation, compound verb analysis, compound verb
generation, transfer

Will analyze and synthesize the morphology, take the linguistic form and
generate the surface form, and understand and generate homographic analysis.
Will utilize working knowledge of (or aptitude) for linguistic programming.

Requirements: PhD. in Linguistics, native or near-native speaker of
Portuguese and/or Italian.  (Other Romance languages would be
considered.)  Dictionary development, linguistic programming
experience, and a keen interest in lexical issues. Must possess a
combination of knowledge of and experience in general linguistic
principles, a keen attentive interest in linguistic structure,
knowledge of and sensitivity to computational linguistics issues, and
a knowledge of machine translation and lexicon-building issues.
