Assistant Professor of Spanish:Applied Linguistics

Tenure-track position beginning August 1999. Seeking a specialist in
Spanish Applied Linguistics with a focus on Acquisition/Pedagogy/FLE
with PhD in hand at time of appointment. Preferred secondary areas of
specialization include Spanish sociolinguistics and Hispanic
socio-cultural studies. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and
English required.  Applicants must have a clearly defined research
program and must provide evidence fo excellence in teaching.  Training
in OPI and experience in technology based instruction is highly
desirable; experience and/or interest in working with public school
language programs is also a plus.

The position involves: teaching undergraduate and graduate language
courses as well as courses in area of specialization, developing
undegraduate courses in Spanish linguistics, socio-cultural studies and
Spanish for the professions, and training and supervising language
instructors.

We will interview at the MLA.  Letter of application and complete
dossier, including c.v., evidence of excellence in teaching and three
recent letters of recommendation must be received by November 23, 1998.

In der Philosophischen Fakultaet/Fachgruppe Sprachwissenschaft ist die

C 3-Professur fuer Romanistische Sprachwissenschaft

zu besetzen.

Der/die Stelleninhaber/in soll die romanistische Sprachwissenschaft in
Forschung und Lehre (Staatsexamensstudiengang Franzoesisch, geplanter
Staatsexamensstudiengang Spanisch und romanistische Magisterstudiengaenge)
vertreten, seinen/ihren Schwerpunkt im Iberoromanischen haben und in
mindestens einem systematischen Gebiet der Sprachwissenschaft ausgewiesen
sind. Er/sie soll bereit sein, bei dem einzurichtenden Studiengang Spanisch
mitzuwirken und im Sonderforschungsbereich "Entwicklung und Variation im
Lexikon" mitzuarbeiten. Habilitation oder habilitationsaequivalente
Leistungen werden vorausgesetzt.

Die Universitaet bemueht sich um die Beseitigung von Nachteilen, die fuer
