Please consider the following notices.

Journal for Semitics
The editor of the Journal for Semitics (JSEM), published by the Southern
African Society for Semitics (SASSEM), is looking for articles of a high
academic standard to be considered for publication.  This peer reviewed
journal has been published since 1989 and is accredited by the National
Research Foundation of South Africa. Articles about any topic in
Semitics will be considered (linguistic study of Semitic languages,
history, literature, culture, etc). You are kindly requested to submit
an article or articles to the editor:

SASSEM Conference
The 12th annual conference of Southern African Society for Semitics
(SASSEM) will be held on 23 and 24 August 1999 on the campus of the
University of the North in South Africa (near Pietersburg).  Papers
about any topic in the field of Semitics will be considered for this
conference  (linguistic study of Semitic languages, history, literature,
culture, etc). If you are interested to attend this conference and to
read a paper,  please contact Prof Andre Conradie before the end of
April or as soon thereafter as possible at:

You could link this with the 42nd annual conference of the Old Testament
Society of South Africa (OTSSA), held 25-27 August in Pretoria.  Please

this congress focuses on Israel*s history with special reference to the
Deuteronomic History.
