Tenured or tenure-track position. Assistant or Associate Professor of
applied linguistics, acquisition of French as a second language, and/or
methodology; evidence of strong commitment to research. Experience with
state-of-the-art technologies in language learning essential. Duties
include supervision and coordination of basic courses; development of
multi-media technology center resources; participation in teaching courses
and advising in the Masters of Arts in Language Learning program; and
teaching language courses at all levels. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in
hand as of start of contract date. College teaching experience. Native or
near-native proficiency in French. We especially encourage applications
from those in underrepresented categories including minorities and women.
Position to begin August 2000. Applicants should indicate availability for

TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN LINGUISTICS
The Department of Linguistics and Translation of the Université de
Montréal invites applications for a tenure-track position in phonetics.

FUNCTIONS
The person filling the position will be required to teach phonetics at
both the undergraduate and graduate levels, to supervise M.A. and Ph.D.
students, and to be responsible for the phonetics laboratory.  S/he will
also be expected to be active in research and publication.  CAPACITY TO
TEACH COURSES IN FRENCH IS REQUIRED.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. Linguistics or equivalent with specialization in phonetics.  Ph.D.
should be in hand or defended by the time of appointment (June 1,
2000).  Teaching experience and quality research and publications are
expected.
