Dear all,

I am interested to find out whether the age at which a person learns a
SECOND language affects attitudes towards and/or use of the FIRST
language (or mother tongue). Thus far, I have not been able to find
any literature or research findings on the topic.

As a result of my own research, I have found that the age at which a
second language is learnt has quite a significant effect on attitudes
towards it and its use. In particular, my research shows people who
learnt English as a second language before school age (i.e. six years)
have notably more positive attitudes towards it and use it far more
extensively in all domains than those who learnt English at school.

I'd like to know whether reconstructions of Tai roots include palatal -c, and
if so what are the reflexes.  Thanks to all for help.
