Subject:  Typology of Intensifiers and Reflexives


Applications are invited to fill a half-time position within our
research project 'A Typology of Intensifiers and Reflexives'. The
successful candidate should hold a university degree in linguistics or
a related field and should have a strong interest in language
typology, semantics and/or syntax. Some experience in the analysis of
Non-European languages would be especially welcome.

The contract starts on 1 April 1999 and expires after two years.

The salary is ranked according to the BAT II/a pay scale.

   Assistant Professor(s) and Lecturer(s) in TEFL

   Multi-year renewable positions for applicants with M.A. or Ph.D. in
   English, TEFL, Foreign Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or other
   relevant field, preferably with background in educational technology and
   language testing.  Courses to be taught include integrated-skills EFL
   courses and writing courses.  Standard teaching load is 9-16 hours per
   week.  Successful applicants will have demonstrated commitment to
   teaching and scholarship in a regional (Taiwan) and international context,
   be willing to participate in curriculum/program coordination, and be
   willing to make minimum three-year commitment.  Send English cover letter,
   vita, graduate transcripts, and at least three reference letters to Dr.
