Job Opening at Kagoshima University

The Faculty of Education, Kagoshima University is seeking candidates for a
full-time tenure-track position in TEFL, applied linguistics or other
related fields at the rank of Associate Professor.  The applicant must be
less than 40 years old on April 1, 2000, when the position will begin.
Duties may include teaching English and applied linguistics at undergraduate
and graduate levels.

last 12 months)

3-year Visiting Professorship in Applied Linguistics, Vienna, Austria

The Department of Linguistics, Vienna University, offers a 3- year
Visiting Professorship in Applied Linguistics (pending budgetary
approval of the administration), opening date: Oct., 1, 1999. The
opening of this position is due to a temporary replacement of Prof.
Wodak, who leaves for 3 years to the Austrian Academy of Science. The
successful candidate is expected to have earned their "Habilitation"
(or equal qualification) by the time of the beginning of the
appointment and to have a strong academic record in at least two of
the following areas: critical linguistics, analysis of  institutional
communication, gender studies, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis.
Additional requirements are teaching experience and a working
knowlegdge of German. Candidates are expected to conduct their own
research, to teach courses in the above areas (teaching load per
semester: 8 hours), to supervise MA and PhD students, and to
participate in administrative duties in the department and the
university. This is a preliminary call, so please do not send in any

administration has taken a final decision on financial resources.
