			Q U E S T I O N S


			The 2nd International Conference
				of the
			North-West Centre for Linguistcs
			12th-14 November 1999


Following the success in 1998 of the first International
Conference of the North-West Centre for Linguistics, on the
theme of NEGATION, we now invite you to the Second
International Conference, to be held at the University of
Liverpool on the theme of QUESTIONS.

Suggestions for papers on all aspects of Questions are
welcome. We invite offers of papers on the semantics,
syntax and pragmatics of Questions, a well as on their role
in spoken and written discourse.

Papers will be of 25 minutes duration followed by 10
minutes for discussion; a selection of the proceedings will
be published.

Please send proposals (250 words) as e-mail attachment
(plain text) to arrive not later than 1st May 1999 to:
