Post-doctoral position in Cognitive Neuroscience of Language
University of Maryland at College Park

The new Cognitive Neuroscience of Language Lab (CNL) at the University
of Maryland at College Park (suburb of Washington DC) is looking for a
post-doc to participate in all aspects of research. The CNL Lab is
supervised by Stephen Crain and David Poeppel. Local facilities
include a high-density EEG/ERP system (Neuroscan ESI-128), a
stationary and a headband eye-tracker (ISCAN ETL 500 head-mounted
system), facilities to analyze EEG, MEG, and fMRI data. In addition,
it is possible to collaborate on a variety of projects using MEG, PET,
and fMRI at other local institutions (including Georgetown, NIH). The
research is focused on two broad areas, sentence processing (Crain)
and speech perception (Poeppel) although we have a broad aesthetic and
are interested in any speech-and language-related work.  For best

Entropic Ltd is seeking software engineers to work on the development
of spoken dialogue tools and systems. The position will involve
rendering web-based dialogs using speech recognition and synthesis
technology to produce natural human-computer interactions. Successful
applicants will develop web browsing techniques to handle dialogs
specified on Internet pages and contribute to the design and
implementation of voice mark-up languages.

Candidates should have a good honours degree or equivalent in a
relevant subject, good communication skills and a confirmed interest
in speech recognition, NLP or Internet applications. Experience of
system software development, preferably using C/C++, internet
protocols and scripting using Javascript or Tcl are all desirable.

The post will be based in Cambridge, UK. Company benefits include an
