Full-time instructor or
assistant professor of English at the Faculty of ForeignStudies,
English Language Major, Kitakyushu University.  Applicants with a
Ph. D. in English Linguistics, TESOL or related fields are
preferred. Duties may include teaching Communicative
English. Conversational Japanese ability is required. Retirement age
is 65. Teaching starts on April, 1 2000.Applicants should send a

Subject:  Japanese Language at Western MI U

One-year Replacement Position for Teaching Japanese:  Western Michigan
University

One-year replacement position in Japanese language in the Department of
Asian and Middle Eastern Languages.  Applicant will teach Japanese
language courses at the undergraduate level.  This position is for the
1999-2000 academic year.  Teaching load is three courses per semester.
Applicants should have an M.A. degree in relevant field with teaching
experience in the communicative approach.  In addition to regular
teaching duties, responsibilities include participating in curricula
development and computer-assisted language instruction, academic
advising, involvement with student support and community services.
Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English, a strong
commitment to excellence in scholarship, and dedication to teaching
required.  Employment contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in
the United States.  Send the letter of application, vita, statement of
teaching interests, and three names of reference to:  Hideko Abe, Chair,
Asian and Middle Eastern Languages, Western Michigan University,
