BILINGUAL EDUCATION TRAINEESHIPS AVAILABLE FROM GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY

Georgetown University's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in English
as a Second Language and Bilingual Education has been awarded six Title VII
traineeships for each of the next five academic years, under the U.S.
Department of Education's 'Bilingual Education: Teachers and Personnel
Grants' program. The District of Columbia Public Schools and Arlington
(Virginia) Public Schools are cooperating partners.

APPLICATIONS INVITED: Georgetown's MAT program invites applications from
qualified candidates for the first six Title VII traineeships, for the
1999-2000 academic year. The traineeships cover tuition (no stipend) for
Fall, Spring and Summer courses toward the MAT degree. Students will have
one semester of unfunded coursework remaining.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must:
(1) have competence in Spanish sufficient to successfully complete at least
two graduate courses in Spanish;
(2) agree to teach or administer in schools with large minority-student
populations for one year;
(3) become full-time students;
(4) be U.S. citizens or permanent residents;
(5) meet the requirements for admissions to Georgetown's Graduate School,
Department of Linguistics and Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
