CALL for BOOK REVIEWS

As you may know, our 2000 issue of Links & Letters will be devoted to
the development of autonomy in L2 language learning in any of its
manifestations: self-directed learning, self-access learning, learner
training, learner strategies and strategic training, learners'
beliefs, developing autonomy across cultures, distance and open
learning and Computer Assisted Language Learning (including E-mail and
Internet applications for autonomous L2 learning), among others.

For the purposes of this volume, we would now like to solicit book
reviews of recent books relevant to the issue. Specifications follow:

a) The reviews must not exceed 4 pages in length, and should include
all relevant information such as title of the text, author(s), date of
publication, publisher, and number of pages in the preface and text
itself, following the format below:

Andrew RADFORD. Syntactic theory and the acquisition of English syntax.
Oxford: Blackwell, 1990, viii + 311 pages.

b) They should describe as concretely as possible the content and
organisation of the text, situating it within the relevant theoretical
issues.

c) Texts should be current (date of publication 1995- present).

d) Reviews of print as well as non-print materials are welcome.

e) The author's name and institutional affiliation must appear at the
end of the review.

f) Reviews must be submitted by July 10th, and should be sent to:

    ESSLLI'99--Call for Participation--Web Update

    From August 9-20, the 11th European Summer School in Logic,
    Language and Information is being held at Utrecht University.
    The summer school offers an intensive two-week programme with
    courses (introductory to advanced), workshops, a student session,
    and plenary evening lectures. The ESSLLI'99 faculty consists
    of 80 top researchers in the field. In addition to the scientific
    programme, recruitment activities are being organized by the
    ESSLLI industrial sponsors. There is also a social programme.

    The web site has just been updated with full programme details
    (including the workshops and the student session). On the
    ESSLLI'99 web site, you can register on-line, and arrange
    local accommodation.

    The registration fee is 450 NLG (Dutch Guilders) for students,
    700 NLG for academic participants and 1200 NLG for industrial
    participants. Accommodation in the comfortable student residence
    halls is 410 NLG for two weeks. See the web page for other
    options. Do not hesitate to register NOW, if you want to be
    sure of a place to stay!
