                        Call for Papers

          Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association Conference
                     Mount Allison University
                Sackville   New Brunswick   Canada

                       November 5 & 6, 1999

          Conference Theme: Language and Identity

          Keynote Speaker: Jack Chambers, University of Toronto

We welcome proposals for papers on all topics in the field of language and
identity. Presentations will be 30 minutes in length, including 20 minutes
for the paper and 10 minutes for discussion.

Please submit a preliminary 150 word abstract and the title of your paper,
with the following information: your name, affiliation, mailing address,
phone number, and e-mail address.

Send submissions to Wendy Burnett at the following address: wburnett at mta.ca

Authors who present papers at the conference will be invited to contribute
their papers to the Printing of the Proceedings.

Deadline for the receipt of abstracts: April 16, 1999
