The Department of Japanese Studies at Salem-Teikyo University invites
applications for a temporary instructor of Japanese (April 5, 1999 to
May 27, 1999). Salem-Teikyo University is a private American
institution with 600 American students and 200 Japanese students.
Responsibilities include teaching Japanese 1 and 2 to non-native
Japanese.  Applicants must have native fluency in Japanese.

Subject:  Computational Ling; Lecturer at King's College




We currently have two vacancies for Lectureships in Computational
Linguistics for a fixed term for five years.  One post will be appointed on
the Lecturer A scale and one will be appointed on the Lecturer B scale.

The post on Lecturer A scale is in computational linguistics with
specialisation in formal and computational approaches to syntax, semantics,
and discourse theory. The successful candidate will be able to teach
courses and to supervise post graduate/research students in computational
syntax and semantics, and in formal discourse theory.

The post on Lecturer B scale is in computational linguistics with
specialisation in logic and mathematical linguistics.  The successful
candidate will be able to teach courses and to supervise post
graduate/research students in model theory, formal properties of grammar,
and complexity theory.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant subject and demonstrate
evidence of high quality research activity in the indicated areas of
specialisation.    The Lecturer A salary is on scale 18,789 - 23,494
inclusive and Lecturer B salary is 24,860 - 31,182 inclusive.
