Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Cognitive
Neuroscience of Language and its Disorders

Two-year post-doctoral fellowship available after July 1, 1999, at the
University of Maryland School of Medicine, in Baltimore,
Maryland. Training opportunities will provide experience in the
application of contemporary research methods (including computational
modeling, cognitive neuropsychology, event-related potentials and
functional neuroimaging) to the topic of normal and disordered
language processing. Applicants with doctoral degrees in related basic
science areas (cognitive psychology, neuroscience, linguistics,
computer science, etc.) and clinical disciplines (speech/language
pathology; clinical neuropsychology) are invited to apply. Questions
may be directed to rberndt at umaryland.edu. To apply, send HARD COPIES
of C.V., names and addresses of three referees, and statement of

"SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER:

Aculab plc invites applications for a software development engineering
post.  The position initially involves design and implementation of a
Text-To-Speech system. The software will be implemented in C++,
initially under NT5. This work will follow on to design of other C/C++
applications in the Computer-Telephony, Fax and Image Processing
field, under NT and Unix.

Candidates with the following experience will be considered :

	C++ programming - at least 3 years experience
	Software engineering within a team development project.
	At least one working, released, tested software product or
        substantial module of a product.

Applicants must have the following attributes :

	A rigorous approach to software engineering - this software product
        will be released in the near future.
	Ability to work in a team of engineers with complementary skills.
	Imaginative approach to implementation of standardised algorithms.
