Position in the University of Leipzig Graduate Program 'Universality
and diversity: linguistic structures and processes' (Graduiertenkolleg
'Universalitaet und Diversitaet: Sprachliche Strukturen und Prozesse')

We are offering two grants for postdoctoral scientists for research in
theoretical linguistics (language specific or typological),
psycholinguistics or the neuropsychology of language.

We are sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German
Research Foundation) and by the German state Saxony.

The grant is valid for at least one year. Potential extension depends
on the renewal of our funding.

Subject:  Semantics and Pragmatics - Visiting Faculty/Stanford U

Visiting Position at Stanford University in Semantics and Pragmatics

The Department of Linguistics at Stanford University expects to be
able to appoint a visiting faculty member (rank open) to teach two or
three courses in semantics and pragmatics during the winter and spring
quarters (January through early June) of 2000.  One course will be the
graduate-level Introduction to Semantics and Pragmatics (Ling. 230A),
which introduces the elementary formal theory of descriptive meaning,
and applies it to the analysis of various linguistic phenomena.  The
other courses are negotiable.  Salary will be competitive.

Expressions of interest in the form of a CV, a list of references
(with contact information), and a one-page statement of teaching
interests should be sent in hard copy form to the address below, or
