Position in Psycholinguistics

The Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Irvine
invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate
Professor level position as a psycholinguist working in
phonetics/phonology, with a starting date of July 1, 2000.
Possible research areas include acquisition of phonology,
computational phonology, imaging, laboratory phonology,
phonological parsing, phonetics/phonology interface, quantitative
phonology, speech/language processing, and speech perception.
The successful candidate will be expected to interact with both
linguists and cognitive scientists and, as appropriate, with others
in related groups such as computer science and neuroscience.
Candidates are expected to have a strong record of research
accomplishment commensurate with academic experience
and a serious commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SPANISH (Tenure track, to begin Fall, 2000)
Ph.D. required. Specialization in Applied Lingustics, Foreign Language
Methodology and/or Instructional Technology. Native or near native
fluency in Spanish and demonstrated excellence in language teaching.
Beginning, intermediate and advanced language courses and courses in
language teaching methodology for a dynamic undergraduate program.
Coordination of language courses, participation in planning for the
development of a multi-media language learning center, and work with
public schools on professional development of language teachers.

Rutgers-Newark is an AAU research university, located twenty minutes
from Manhattan.  The campus has a large immigrant population and is
