instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Dear Sir/Madam,
 Nice to write this letter to everyone.
This is Prof. Larry Chong from Korea.
Now I am researching the nature of Cyber-linguistics and its behaviors.
As follows:

1. Why netizns love to use as many acronyms as they could?
Ex) By the way --->BTW
2. Why it occurrs all over the sentences?
Ex) How are you? -->How R U?
3. How we could classify these phenomena?
4. How we can foretell its future of language behavior in cyber communities?

If you have any idea or suggestions for it, please let me know it.
Someone who wants to co-research it will be welcome too.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Larry from Korea

Dear members of linguistlist,

Do you know of the existence of any mailing lists specifically geared
towards pragmatics? If so, I would be grateful if you could provide me with
the URL(s).

Thank you in advance,

Ann J. K. Greenall

Subject:  Named Entity Extraction

Hello again. I'm looking for systems that do named entity extraction and
maybe coreference. The idea is to extract proper names (people and places)
from English texts. I would like to find out about public domain or
commercial systems.

-Martin
