We are pleased to announce the release of SignStream version 1.5,
a MacOS application that facilitates the linguistic analysis of
visual language data (e.g., the study of signed languages and gesture),
developed with support from the National Science Foundation.
Further information about the program, which is distributed on a
non-profit basis to students, educators, and researchers, is available
at http://www.bu.edu/asllrp/SignStream .

We urge all users to upgrade to the new version, which registered
users may do at no cost. All registered users should already have
received information via e-mail about downloading the upgrade
materials from our Web site. If you are a registered user but have
not received this information, please send e-mail to carol at bu.edu.
We will no longer be supporting version 1.0.

The new version contains several improvements and enhancements.
In addition to improved handling of movie files, you will find
that the search facility now allows for formulation of more
complex queries. Further details about the new version are
available at the SignStream Web site.

We hope that you like the new features and improvements.
We look forward to receiving any feedback about the new version
or about other features that you would find helpful.

Carol Neidle and Dawn MacLaughlin
(for the SignStream development team)
