Subject: Definition of 'discourse-topic'

Dear members of the linguist-list,

I am a student of General Linguistics at the University of Bonn,
Germany, and have recently subscribed to this list.
I am currently working on my MA dissertation about topic-shift in
conversation. At the moment I am puzzled with the problem of an adequate
definition of 'discourse-topic'.
So, if there is anyone, who is confronted with similar problems and can
give me a hint at relevant literature, please send me a mail to
uzsqqo at uni-bonn.de.

Thanks a lot!
Pia Bergmann

I am carrying out some research on the Amish from a linguistic point
of view. I would be grateful for information on recent relevant
publications and/or contacts with other researchers on this topic.

I am undertaking a study of anglicisms in European Portuguese for my
masters research thesis at Flinders University in Australia. I would
be very grateful if anyone could tell me of recent works (ie since
Deroy, Haugen and Weinreich!) on loanword studies, or give me any
other suggestions.

Thank you.

Julia Miller
