Hello Linguists, a quick request for info.
Does anyone have any references for well-argued books or papers which are
hostile to cognitive linguistics, particularly the idea of "schemas".
Thanks very much. BTW I am looking for academic musings, rather than
polemical stuff!

- ---------------- Hi ! I'm currently writing my examspaper on my
"motherese" to my almost 2 year old daughter Sarah. We live in
Giessen, Germany and I'm a single mother, who was raised by "all
German" parents. We moved around the world due to my father's
occupationon; consequently I turned quite multi-lingual myself. The
English language, especially (I fine-tune me own variation to who I'm
speaking to) is a part of me I don't want to give up, while raising my
child alone, in a ML German environment.
I have 2 questions:
#1
Are there any reports/data/information/statistics on bilingual
single-parents out there, that give me information on the choices
these people make (and I know they exist, I can't be the only one)
or made, when it comes to deciding on how to speak to their
children?
#2 Is there any current research going on concerning
language input theories - fine-tuning, etc. And where do I obtain this
kind of information? (results ?) Thank you so much for any
help.

Sonia Wagner Giessen, Germany
