Linguistics.  Tenure-track position available August 18, 2000.
Responsibilities:  teaching undergraduate linguistics courses for
English majors and Linguistics/ESL minors; graduate linguistics
courses for MATESOL/Linguistics and doctoral applied linguistics
students; carrying on a research program; directing graduate student
research.  Minimum qualifications:  earned doctorate in linguistics by
August 18, 2000; record of excellent teaching at the college or
university level; record of publications or presentations in
linguistics.  Preferred qualifications:  evidence of ability to relate
linguistics to areas of English Studies such as literature,
composition, rhetoric, and TESOL; expertise in Discourse Analysis.
Send letter of application, curriculum vitae, graduate transcript,
samples of research, and three letters of recommendation to:
Linguistics Search Committee, Department of English, Ball State

Spanish Lecturer: University of Southern California

	Full-time, non-tenure track positions to teach lower division Spanish
language to begin Fall 2000; 1-3 year appointments, with the possibility
of renewal; benefits. Requirements: Ph.D. in Spanish, Second Language
Acquisition and Teaching, or related field.  Demonstrated excellence in
teaching Spanish at the college level.  Commitment to the integration of
