1st Announcement

The Biannual GASLA (Generative Approaches to Second Language Acquisition)
Conference

The Theme:	The Bilingual* Brain
			(i.e: * = Multilingual)

The conference provides a creative context for bringing together two
complementary research domains:
1. Cognitive and linguistic research on language structure and behavior
2. Neuropsychological research on language correlates in the brain

Topics for papers include but not limited to:
1. Issues on specialized locations for language functions in the brain
2. Differences in brain "structures" between children and adult bilinguals*
3. Methodologies used to evaluate bilingual* brain functions
4. Bilingual* Brain versus Monolingual Brain
5. Connections between Second Language Acquisition (SLA) or bilingual*
acquisition data and brain correlates
6. New generative SLA studies
7. Generative Approaches to child or adult differences
8. Interface constraints on SLA
9. Role of experience in brain correlates, language data etc.

Abstracts Due Date:	November 1, 1999

Publication of conference proceedings:
Selected papers will be published in both book and web-forms. Submissions
for publication will be refereed.
