We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

To All Linguist List Subscribers

I am presently doing a literature search for one particular
article which exists somewhere, but unfortunately I know
not where!

It involves a matched guise test in which the effects of
standard v. non-standard dialects on the management
decisions of doctors was assessed, i.e. Surgery was
more likely to be recommended for the clients with non-
standard dialects.

We are planning to carry out a similar study involving
Belfast English and counsellors/general practitioners
and would therefore be very grateful if anyone
recognises the above research (or indeed can
recommend anything similar).

With Many Thanks

Karen

My research work is on reduplication, rhyme & ablaut
combinations in American English.
It's very difficult for me to find the information on
this topic here in the place I live. If you have
anything for me please reply to
shamdanashev at yahoo.com

Thank you very much in advance.
One more request.
If you have any examples of reduplication, rhyme or
ablaut combinations in American English would you
send them to me too.

Gratefully,

shamil danashe, Adyge University, Russia
