We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: J. B. Pride/reference question

I have a book chapter which I'd like to refer to in my dissertation, but I
don't know where it came from.
Does anyone know which book includes a chapter called "A Transactional View
of Speech Functions
and Codeswitching" by J. B Pride? Because Pride's name is on the first page
of this article/chapter,
I am almost certain that this is NOT a book authored by Pride, but rather an
edited book with
chapters from various people.

If you know where the chapter/article comes from, or even think you know,
please let me know!

I am conducting a language survey to gather data on what names people use
when they name the divine. (The survey is part of a project for a class
at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, USA.) The survey is at
http://www.flashport.net/divine. Your participation in the survey and
further dissemination of the web address would be appreciated.
