          Parasession: SOUTH ASIAN and SOUTHEAST ASIAN LANGUAGES
                  DEADLINE for Abstracts: 1 June, 2000

Papers are invited for the General Session in all areas of linguistic
theory and for the Parasession on South Asian and Southeast Asian
Languages. Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for
Q&A). Abstracts should be anonymous, and should be no longer than one
page, with one inch margins, in typeface no smaller than 12 characters per
inch. An additional page with examples and references may be included.
Please provide 7 copies of the abstract. Authors should identify
themselves on a separate 3x5" index card by including the following
information:

      title of paper
      general session or parasession
      appropriate subfield
      author's name
      affiliation
      address
      telephone number (optional)
      e-mail address

Papers presented at the conference will be published in the WECOL 2000
Proceedings; participating authors will be invited to submit a
camera-ready copy of their paper (not to exceed 15 pages) by January, 2001
for inclusion in the proceedings.

The Linguistic Society of Korea is organizing 2000 Seoul International
Conference on Language and Computation (2000 SICOLC). SICOLC is
organized under the auspices of the Linguistic Society of Korea and
Language Information Institute of Korea University. 2000 SICOLC will
consist of a main session and a student session. In the main session,
there are a series of lectures by invited speakers. Leading scholars
from the U.S.A., Europe, and Asia will discuss current issues in their
fields of specialization.

Roland Hausser (Erlangen-Nuernberg University, Germany)
Michael Barlow (Rice University, USA)
Mike Hammond (University of Arizona, USA)
Key-Sun Choi (KAIST, Korea)

Those who are interested in presenting their papers are encouraged to
mail an abstract to the following e-mail address or regular address.

Abstracts are invited on any topic related to language and
computation.  Abstracts should not exceed one single-spaced page of A4
including data and references. The abstract must not bear the author's
name but only the title of the paper. The following information should
accompany the abstract: names and affiliations of all authors, the
title, subfield, regular address, e-mail address, phone number, and
fax number. English will be the official language in the main session.
Parallel to the main session, there will be a Student Session. It is
designed for students' full participation. Those who want to present a
paper in the student session must indicate "For Student Session" at
the upper righthand corner of the abstract. Korean as well as English
may also be used in the Student Session. Please note that advanced
student members can also submit abstracts to the main session and make
presentations there. All abstracts accepted for talks will be alloted
20 minutes for presentation followed by a 5-minute discussion.
Accepted papers will be published in a proceedings.

Deadline for abstract submission: May 10, 2000
Notification of Acceptance via e-mail: June 5, 2000
