Associate Editor for Random House Reference.

Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics or
Applied Linguistics, graduate degree preferable.  Candidate needs at
least one foreign language and previous editorial experience. Candidate
needs to have strong and resourceful research skills, outstanding
creativity and problem-solving skills. Ability to write clear
definitions consistent with specified styles. Must have strong computer
skills: Dictionary database, basic SMGL coding, light HTML, Internet.

Candidate will evaluate, create, develop and edit dictionaries within
the Reference imprint. Responsible for individual content area of
expertise and general definition writing on all titles in-house.
Contribute to style and editorial policy decisions, collect and track
new words for inclusion in dictionaries.  Write front, flap, back and
catalog copy, write fact sheets, maintain web site pages and contribute
to site development. Contribute to projects within areas of content
expertise (pronunciation, etymology, slang, bilinguals, ESL).
