I am a research student and looking for information on scanning and OCR
[Object Character Recognition] for Syriac letters. I would be thankful
for any information on this line for any ancient languages.

Looking for contacts, software, papers etc.

Please respond to me directly ( Prem.Fernando at cl.cam.ac.uk)

Prem

Subject: Anaphora Resolution Software

Dear Linguists,
I'm looking for anaphora resolution software. The ideal would be a package
that takes an xml file
and tags anaphorically-related elements, with some measure of control over
what elements
get tagged---but I'm not proud, a research prototype, or even the email
address of someone who's working
on the problem would help.

I'm not especially interested in pronouns. I am especially interested in
attenuated
noun phrases, e.g. knowing that "the Sony DiscMan CD player ... the DiscMan
... the CD player"
all refer to the same entity.

An example that goes a bit beyond anaphora resolution: given "the TechDev
3600 line ... the 3650 ... "
I'd like to know that "the 3650" is an instance of "the TechDev 3600 line".

Any leads?

Max
