Dear Sirs/Madamas
We are a group of three Teachers of English working towards our BA in
English with a Linguistic perspective and we are writing a paper on -ed
participles. We would be grateful if you could help us with web sites or
web pages we access concerning our issue or if you could set light on
our hypothesis: -ed participial adjectives can be used attributively:
the notion of permanence is what determines its "attributiveness".
Thanking you ever so much

Subject: 3 Word Noun Phrases/Word Lists

Does anyone know where I could find a list of common English two and
three word noun phrases, but more particularly those with generic
reference (as opposed to specific, unique, or brand names or
trademarks)? In other words, I'm interested in things like:

food bank
mystery novels
chocolate chips
blood plasma
corn syrup
bounty hunter
used computers
hunger strike
home run record
combed cotton shirt
new brake drum

but not things like:

Southside Food Bank
Rice novels
Toll House Morsels
the White House
Dell Computers
Dawn dishwashing liquid
Ruth's batting average

I'm looking for something in the range of 50,000 to 100,000 terms, but
anything would be helpful. Any hints or suggestions would be
appreciated.

Sincerely,
Paul Listen
El Cerrito, CA
