Nuance is looking for 2 linguists in English and Portuguese/Spanish.

Note: The Dialog Designer in English will be in Menlo Park, USA.
      The Dialog Designer in Portuguese/Spanish will be in Latin America.

Summary:

As a Dialog Design Expert in the Nuance Professional Services
Applications group, you are part of a dynamic team that envisions,
creates and deploys Nuance's next-generation interactive speech
recognition/verification applications. This is an opportunity to
exercise your interest in Voice User Interface design as you create
challenging interactive dialogs for state-of-the-art systems. You
enjoy team work, yet are capable of strong individual contribution and
would enjoy the challenge of project leadership to take a project from
start to finish. Your team works directly with Nuance partners and
customers, Nuance Sales, and various technical groups within
Nuance. Your job is fast-paced and challenging as you push the
envelope daily with Nuance customers around the world.

Responsibilities:

Design friendly dialog systems for state-of-the-art speech
recognition/verification systems.
Use Nuance tools to analyze and tune dialog and grammar performance
Work daily with internal and external Nuance customers
Refine customer requirements

Required:

Interest in speech recognition/verification technology
Computer-Human Interface skills
Ability to manage project details with customers
Strongly self-directed, detailed, organized
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent problem solving ability
Thrive in a fast-paced environment
Fluent in spoken and written English (for the position in Menlo Park, USA)
and fluent in Spanish/Portuguese (for the position in Latin America).

Ideal:

Proven ability to lead a project or team
Proven experience in dialog design, usability studies, data analysis
Knowledge of speech recognition, speech coding, DSP, pattern recognition
Knowledge of linguistics
Software coding especially in C++ or Java

Education

BS, MS or PhD combining Computer Sciences and/or Engineering with
Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences, and/or Psychology
