Chair in Theoretical Linguistics

The newly formed School of Linguistics and Language, an amalgamation
of the Department of Linguistics and English Language with the
University's Language Centre, seeks an outstanding scholar of
international repute, with specialisation in theoretical syntax, who
will be expected to provide dynamic academic leadership across a broad
range of areas within linguistics. The successful candidate will play
a central role in the strategic development of the new School, and
will ensure the continued expansion of the highly successful existing
undergraduate, MA and PhD programmes. The post is tenable from 1st
September 2001.

The salary will be by negotiation within the professorial range (min.
GBP 37,493).
